Nicola Guastamacchia
General Director \ Residencies
Artist and curator whose work explores the relationships between art, history and politics within the European and Mediterranean context. He is currently a PhD candidate in Sciences of ArtisUniversiteti i Arteveritage at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Catania and has an interdisciplinary background in law and visual arts, with studies at the University of Glasgow and the Kingston School of Art, where he attended the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy. From 2018 to 2021 he worked as Exhibitions Manager aUniversiteti i Artevelery in London. He is co-founder of VOGA Art Project (Bari) and director of the residency programme In-ruins. In 2020 he received the Cantica 21 prize promoted by the Ministero della Cultura, with exhibitions at the Fondazione Pino Pascali and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Tunisi in 2021. In 2022 he won the Premio Fondazione Ducci (Rome) after participating in the SeaCrossArt Residency in Fez, Morocco. His work has been presented in international institutions and contexts, including the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Londra and the Embassy of Italy in Ankara. He is currently conducting a research period at the Universiteti i Arteve in Tirana.
